Do's and Don'ts

Rules

The rules and guidelines for Mobile RC Racing are pretty simple. They expect ALL users to treat others with respect, and to conduct themselves in a manner that's appropriate for a public forum with a very diverse population. Additionally, these forums are only here to help promote RC; to help users get answers to their questions and to share in the positive overall experience that SHOULD result from participation in this or any other hobby. If you conduct yourself in a manner that is NOT consistent with the aforementioned; treat the hosts, administrators, moderators or members of this forum with contempt; or violate any forum rules outlined below (especially those regarding decent conduct and the use of foul language), you will lose your account.

If you violate the forum rules in an obvious manner, you will lose your account without warning. We don't ban anyone for not breaking the rules, so if your account is closed, it is because you disregarded the rules. Threads or posts that are deleted are also the result of actions that violate the forum rules. We don't have the resources to manage a system of warnings or notifications. We are not obligated or compelled to ask for compliance with the forum rules - the simple fact that rules exist implicitly requests your cooperation.

Common sense, good judgment and general decency compels most users to abide by the aforementioned. The following list , however, outlines some of the more common areas in which some users may be more "challenged" than others. Please take a moment to read the following specific aspects of the user agreement so there is no confusion.

Spamming - posting the same or similar threads in multiple forums is not permitted. Please take a moment to review the available forums and post your thread in the most appropriate area. If the administrators or moderators determine that the thread belongs in another forum, it will be moved. If you are unable to find a thread you posted, a quick search will reveal its new location if it was moved.

Advertising - promoting a product, service, website, etc. is available via banner advertising. Posting of advertisements or links to websites in the forums is not permitted. We have paid sponsors of the forums and out of respect for their investment and to be considerate of the forum members, please do not post these types of threads. The users are here to discuss RC topics and we want to minimize the clutter by eliminating guerilla marketing via the forums. We do have a "New Stuff" forum in which we post news and new product items. Users are welcome to submit new product announcements by following instructions outlined within that section.

Posting URLs (links) - Please note that posting unsolicited links to other websites is not permitted. Linking to another web page is often helpful to answer a question, in which case it's completely acceptable. Repeatedly posting links to promote a website, product or service is not permitted, including registering with a URL as a user name. Please consult with our marketing experts about a banner advertising program or other creative solutions if you wish to promote your website, product or service on Mobile Offroad RC

Selling - There is a Buy/Sell/Trade forum in which any registered member can buy or sell an RC-related item. Items unrelated to RC are not permitted; posts and threads selling or trading items outside the Buy/Sell/Trade forums are also not permitted. If you have any RC items sell, they belong in the proper forum and nowhere else.

Multiple user names - there has never been a valid reason for having more that one user name. Shady traders and users who intend to repeatedly violate the forum rules are the most likely to have multiple user names. An overwhelming majority of the time, they're not used for productive purposes, so we have to ask that you limit yourself to one user name.

Freedom of speech - This is not a forum in which users are permitted to say absolutely anything. The forum rules ask that you choose your words carefully. There are many ways to say the same thing, so if you want to offer your opinion, do so in a manner that is not inflammatory or insulting. The written word doesn't convey inflection or emotion, so please be aware that other users may misinterpret your post if you're not completely clear about your intention. Comments intended to insult or provoke an argument have no place on these forums. This includes offering you opinion about products, people, events, etc. Acting out aggression towards another forum member, manufacturer, or organization is unacceptable.

Bypassing filters - Use of certain words and vulgar language are never acceptable in any forum; those words are automatically filtered. Attempting to post profanity, even if it does get caught by the filters, is very disrespectful of other members and it won't be tolerated. It doesn't matter how mad you get - under no circumstances is it acceptable.

Thread crapping/hijacking/off-topic posts - Every effort should be made to ensure that all threads and posts are appropriate for the forum or thread in which they're posted. Users should take a moment to familiarize themselves the structure of the forums and make a conscious effort to post any new threads in the most appropriate forum. Likewise, posts replying to an existing thread should be consistent with original subject matter. Please do not post off-topic replies in threads even when it's in response to another off-topic post - it only compounds the problem. Users who demonstrate a pattern of hijacking or thread crapping (diverting the subject or offensive posts intended to kill the thread) will be noted and will risk the loss of their user account.

Filtered domains - You may notice a select few domains whose URLs are filtered. These are domains that are operated by people that have relentlessly spammed our forums and refused to honor the user agreement, or they've exhibited unusual hostility towards the owners and/or moderators of these forums. In any case, there is a good reason that we've chosen to filter these domains. They are simply not going to benefit from any visibility through these forums as a result of their actions. Attempts to bypass the filter in any way to promote or link to domains that are filtered will result of the loss of your account. We otherwise encourage linking to other websites only where it's material in helping to directly answer a question.

Coaching - Anyone who has been on forums for long enough will figure out that there are ways to get around filters that block profanity and other unwelcome elements. Anything that is filtered or feature that is disabled is done so for a reason - we don't want it on the forums. Coaching anyone to help them violate the forum rules or to circumvent any forum parameters will result in the immediate loss of your account.

Religious and political messages - This is a forum about radio control and is no place for religious or political messages - they will not be tolerated. Anyone repeatedly using these forums to advance a religious or political agenda will be banned immediately and reported to their ISP (internet service provider) This type of behavior is usually in violation of most ISPs terms of use and the offending user will risk having their account cancelled by their ISP. We will pursue these violations aggressively.

Anyone who is banned is welcome to appeal the decision via email to the administrator (serzoni@comcast.net). Anyone who responds to the loss of their account with insults or profanity, proclaiming you did NOTHING WRONG or that we're violating your "freedom of speech," save yourself the trouble of writing the email. You will not get a response. A quick, emotionless email is all that's required. We do not make any promises as to when we will read them, how and if we will reply, and when if any action will be taken.

Thank you to the vast majority of users that make this the best RC site on the web. There are a lot of great members that make these forums such a valuable resource.

The owners of Mobile Offroad RC reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
