Most popular local 1/10 scale offroad class?

Postby deersniper on Tue Jan 07, 2014 12:26 am

I raced 1/10 scale electric 2wd offroad buggies in southern California over 20 years ago, and am currently thinking about getting back into the hobby. I live on the Eastern Shore, so the Silverhill track and the Mobile track are both easily accessible. My question is, what's the most popular 1/10 scale electric class locally? I'd like to build one car and be sure of having that class race at either location on any given race day. Thanks in advance for your responses!

4WD or 2WD SC are the only 1/10th classes here that are almost always guaranteed to run. 2WD Buggy is a once-in-a-blue-moon type of class. If you decide to go 4WD you may also consider going with a 1/8th eBug. Price differences are negligible and eBug is more popular.

Thanks Todd. Are the 1/8 and 1/10 classes run on the same tracks locally? If so, which scale are the tracks better suited for, in your opinion?

Yes, same tracks. Also, just for clarification sake, the Silverhill track is dead. You can likely still run on whats left if you want to practice, but there hasn't been a race in a long while, and I doubt there ever will be again.

The Mobile track is a pretty good compromise, and doesn't really lean either way too drastically.

Wow, I didn't realize Silverhill was gone. Are there any other local tracks?

It's a little far ,maybe, for you but Ft Walton Beach has a track that runs 1/10th scale. 2wd Buggy and 4wd are the biggest classes right now. They also run 1/8th scale Ebuggy 4wdSC 1/10th scale, and sometimes stadium truck. Here is a link to their forum.

I'm going to be in town June/July timeframe and was wondering what classes are offered for off road'? Is there any on-road racing around Mobile? What are the classes and turnouts? Just don't want to bring the kitchen sink when I travel. Thanks!

We usually have a good turnout in 1/8 nitro buggy, 1/8 nitro truggy, 1/8 E buggy, 1/8 E truggy, 1/10 4x4 corr truck, and 1/10 2wd corr truck. We never hardly have a 1/10 buggy showing but sometimes a couple show up. Pensacola has onroad that they race in a parking lot but I'm not sure of there schedule.

Thanks,

I don't have any 1/8th scale stuff anymore. Oh well, thanks again.

You could run the T4 in the outlaw class on the oval, in Mobile.
