2014 Chili Cookoff Info

Postby Brian Davis on Sat Feb 08, 2014 2:50 pm

Okay guys, it's that time of the year again. This thread will contain all of the necessary info for the 2014 American Cancer Society Chili Cookoff R/C Race, and I will try to keep it updated as much as possible. As with every year, there will be a main event featuring cars sponsored by local companies, as well as various support classes to fill in the time between the main races.

Servis 1st Bank (Mark Jefferson)
Maynard, Cooper, and Gayle (Scott Jeffers)

Sign Pro (Mike Seymour)

R/C Racing Station (John Kenny)

Previous Winners (Given first option to drive a sponsored car)

Brian Dickerson (2006)

This year the racing will be held indoors on carpet. Because of this, we're limiting the tire sauce to SXT 3.0. There will be bottles available at the event if you do not have any. The reason for the spec sauce is to prevent mixing of sauces in the carpet. When racers use different sauces, the track gets slimy and there's no traction for anyone. With everyone using the same sauce, a groove forms much faster. SXT is also an odorless compound and works well with the carpet that we'll be racing on.

Racers will need to bring
Pit table
Chair

Extension cords/Power strips

There is parking for trailers, but because of the race being indoors and the tight schedule that we have to maintain, it's requested that everyone pit indoors. It's the racers' responsibility to be on the track in time for their races. We won't have time to constantly stop and wait on people.

More info will be added to this post as it becomes available. If you plan on racing in a support class, please post in this thread so that we can get a count of drivers for each class. Minimum of 5 cars are needed for a class to be run.

Class Rules
**note** - minimum ride height allowed for all classes will be 3mm unless stated otherwise in the class rules. We will be checking this before the cars hit the track to make sure that nothing drags/snags the carpet.

Main Event
Pan car w/supplied truck bodies.
13.5 non-timing (blinky), 1s lipo
Open foam tire
Tailgate of truck may not be trimmed above the molded-in trim line
Spoilers on the bed of the truck must be at least 1" tall and no higher than 2" tall

Sportsman Oval
Pan car chassis
open tire
21.5/2s, 17.5/1s, or 27t/2s are allowed, but we aren't going to very strict on the rules for this class since it's basically an exhibition class for the kids to participate in.
Bodies should be of NASCAR/COT style with spoiler/wing that came with the body. No buggy-style wings allowed

Stock Touring
17.5 non-timing (blinky)/2s lipo
Open rubber tire (i.e.- no foams)
Touring style bodies (use common sense/best judgment.. no pickup truck bodies, mini vans, etc..)

USVTA rules
minimum ride height - 5mm

World GT
200mm pan car chassis
13.5 non-timing (blinky)/1s

I don't know yet. Derek hasn't given me any more sponsors than the ones listed.

If anyone has a company that they want to approach about sponsoring a car, let me know and I'll get the info packet to you. It's a tax-deductable $500 donation to the American Cancer Society,
